Betting Terminology Glossary
Common betting and casino terms explained in English for new players.
RTP (Return to Player)
A theoretical calculation of the percentage of total bets that a game returns to players over the long term. A higher RTP means a relatively greater chance of getting money back for the player.
House Edge
The mathematical advantage that a casino or betting site keeps from each game. The lower it is, the better it is for the player.
Wager / Wagering
The amount placed as a bet, or the condition requiring a specified amount of play before a bonus can be withdrawn. For example, a 10x wagering requirement means you must play through the bonus amount 10 times.
Stake
The amount of money you place on a single bet. Stake management is the key to maintaining your bankroll over the long term.
Odds
A numerical expression of the probability of an event occurring. For example, if you bet ৳100 at odds of 2.00, you receive ৳200 in total on a win. The higher the odds, the bigger the reward — and the greater the risk.
Parlay / Accumulator
Combining multiple bets together into one combo bet. If all selections are correct, the multiplier increases significantly, but one wrong pick means losing the entire bet.
Live Bet
The ability to place bets in real time while a match or game is in progress. Odds change as events unfold, so quick decision-making is needed.
Cashout
The option to partially or fully collect winnings from an active bet before the result is confirmed. Used to reduce risk before the outcome of a match is decided.
Bankroll
The total amount of money set aside specifically for betting or gaming. Healthy bankroll management means spending only a small portion of your total bankroll on each bet.
Volatility
The degree to which the frequency and size of wins varies in a game. High volatility means less frequent but larger wins; low volatility means more frequent but smaller wins.
Free Spin
The opportunity to spin the reels in a slot game at no cost — usually given as part of a bonus or promotion. Winnings from free spins may be subject to wagering requirements.
Spread
A method of equalizing betting by determining the difference between two competitors. In sports betting, the weaker team is given an imaginary points advantage to make the wager more attractive.
